Aria Noon writes contemporary science fiction thrillers for older teens and adults about fractured families, extraordinary abilities and the courage to rebuild.
Set against urban backdrops, and woven with elements of suspense, mystery and speculative science, her stories explore emotionally grounded stories of family, identity and hope.
She balances writing with a career in product design, where she sees first-hand how technology is changing how we live, where the science fiction she read as a child has become real.
Aria lives with a very opinionated yet loving family who tolerate her passion for making things—painting, sculpting, weaving. Someday she wants to take a woodworking course. Writing is another form of sculpture, shaping stories with words.
Aria writes everywhere—on the tube, trains, in cafés, while traveling or at home in southwest London, England, looking out onto a small park where life goes by.
Most of her work is about what it means to feel truly okay and how we find our way back there when things happen to us, or inside our minds: our innerverse.
She’s learned a lot by listening—as a mentor to young people at the beginning of their careers, and as a volunteer on a suicide prevention charity.
Pain is real, and for some, constant.
Aria’s stories show how people cope under immense pressure, supporting each other to get through difficult times, to find joy and hope and love. In her travels, this is what she immerses herself in, the many ways people live and the monuments they build that endure.
And she drinks too much tea: English Breakfast, light, whole milk, stirred gently with a teaspoon. Makes everything better.
